The trial sub is a good way to sample the magazine. Obviously we don't make much money from it, so if you want us to survive it's better to go for the one year, but it seems to work well at shows, and we're happy to honour it for the nice folk on UKWorkshop!

PS - nice article on the new design in the current BW, even Mrs IB liked them, appreciated the female nude and wanted the block chair

Thanks IB. The block chair is extraordinary. Ian Spencer emailed me the other day to say that he'd had tons of interest in the piece, with one person possibly wanting a batch. He was fascinating to talk to, and I'd love to visit his workshop in London.

Peter Rolfe was really interesting about the carved lady, particularly about the need the remove one of the arms. He said that she looked just too seductive with both arms leaning back on the cabinet. It will be fascinating to see what he can do with ideas like this. I think he should be applauded for being so radical and pushing the boundaries of furniture making. In fact I get a bit teary-eyed and proud to be a woodie when you see others who are pushing the envelope and trying to come up with new ideas. Woodwork can be a bit obsessed with tradition and methods at times, I think.

Nick - I picked up a copy of BW and one of the Yank mags today with a Sam Maloof article and I must admit I'm with you all the way, seeing what folks are prepared to attempt to push the boundaries is inspiring and heartwarming.

Tell you what, if you're at Harrogate again this year and you're willing to let me have a leaf through a few back issues then I'll take a sub to living woods if it looks like the mag for me. We've all got to earn a living and I don't want to take advantage of your good nature unnecessarily

however swimbo doesnt like it when i clutter the house up with back issues "in case" i need them again so if you pm me an address damian i'll send you one of my living woods once ive finished with it - be aware this will take a month or so tho
