The ugly Bug. Was intrested in what the lower piece of pine left over from the inlaws tree looked like. This is what came out. Now it will sit in the house for probably 12 to 16 weeks to dry out.

Maybe buy into the M33 and use an adapter until you change lathes. M33 adapter

As to the replacement, not going to rush as plenty of basic skills to master first.

Sugar bowl with a tajine top. The wood is tianna finished with shellac exterior and Melanie ĺaquer inside. Top of the lid has green glass bits covered in epoxy for decoration, will be adding a second layer later to create a clear glass button. Musr say that I love the finish in natural light, as parts just bling like golden mother of pearl.

A new wood to me. It's beautiful. Not knowing the wood in finding it hard to gauge the size.

The big vase PT 1
Had a request off some local to make a large vase out of ash, after they had seen a large box I'd turned. After a bit of searching, I found a large dry piece of ash that I thought would do the jobNext got the chainsaw out for the end that was cracked and lobbed of two bits to get rid of the wee rascals took of most off the bark and rough shaped what was left ready for the latheput between two centers and spent a lot of time getting it balance. The reason for this my speed control has 10 set settings the lowest number 1 is at 500 rpm. So it had to be perfectly balanced as its a wieght.then the turning and shaping followed by sanding and finishing and ended up with this.The next stage was hollowing and redefining the top ringhad a small hole in the inner rim which got the coffee granules and ca glue treatment and three small cracks on the rim got ca glue hopefully they won't get any bigger. Thats it for now. Not much activity on this thread at the moment hope alls well with you all and look forward to all your posts this year.

My apologies for the slow pace of the thread but I've not been able to get out to the workshop since Xmas day
Hoping to get there soon though, have a few small commissions to do.

The finishing is my favourite to date rustins shellac sanding sealer and chestnut friction polish also shellac base. Still experimenting though.

I only recently started using friction polish, still getting used to it, since finishing my supply of yandles own brand abrasive past and hard wax finish and discovering they have stopped producing them I've struggled to find a replacement that is as good and as well priced so started using a bottle of the polish I've had on the shelf for a few years, Yandles seem to be able to offer a lot of things considerably cheaper than anywhere else, their pewter lids for instance, are less than half the price of anywhere else.
