I like to leave a small foot on a bowl or platter.. which has usually accommodated a chucking recess... really for one reason .. It 'elevates' the piece from the surface on which it stands and gives the bowl or platter an 'independence', .. to allow it to 'float' if you will ... I just like...

Some pieces are stunning, some maybe not so much... never tried it yet, although I'd like to.. just to see what I could achieve, but I think i prefer most pieces which are just a single variety of wood, made from a single uniform blank. But sure as eggs is eggs .. I'll see something tomorrow...

Johnny.. another beaut ! I actually like the heavy band ... its like a blacksmith / cooper, heated that up and quench-fitted it over the "Barrel" ( the bowl )... its yet another great piece from the JT Stable ! love it :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Fantastic, Kym .... my favourite is 'Derwen' , there's something rather 'celtic' about it.. like it could hold a Welsh Dragon's egg ! The Jarrah's a close second for me... but in saying that, they're ALL great. Diolch ! :wink: 8) :lol: 8)

It can be a little 'repetitive', but thats quite understandable and forgiveable, I think. Its not like there's a huge amount of choice, of course .... but all things considered, I believe WOODTURNING is good value for money, and now that fella's like Mark S, Walter, George F etc are...
