Stunning. This is a vase I made for my daughter's 40th birthday present from a yew log given to me by a friend. It stands about 16 inches tall and 9 inches at its widest. Finished with sanding sealer and acrylic lacquer.

Beautiful workPot with a lid ordered by a couple at the market last week. View attachment 194365View attachment 194366no no no the lid was just wrong for the pot. Nice lid though. So did a different one.View attachment 194368better match for the pot I think. But I'll give the clients the choice. Hoping they agree with me, because it turns out the first lid is perfect for my big Christmas mug that steph gets out every year.View attachment 194367much to the dismay of steph I can take this to the workshop now. Stigmorgan hows your brownie points coming along or is it a case of don't ask.
Nice play on words. Is it yew for the top or did you use a differrent type of woodA Yew'sless Teapot
Beautiful. I believe the bottom section is beech and not oakWorking on a present today but the bottom part I was working on just didn't work out for me. About the time Steph dropped of a cuppa tea. Noticed my dilemma and suggested that last piece would make a nice box. So thats what i did.View attachment 194391View attachment 194393View attachment 194390View attachment 194392made of oak 8.5 high and 6.5 cm wide just a tiddler
That's some gorgeous epicormic growth pattern i usually try to save the little growth lumps for smaller detail pieces.
There are a few tutorials showing different methods on YouTube, simplest i think is to drill the "windows" with a forstner bit, you can hollow out the same way too then mount the blank either with a chuck in the hollow or with a jam chuck and shape the outside, once finished turn a friction fit plug for the bottom so you can change out the light/candleMorning all, I love the lantern, I have looked at the style of turning a few times.
I am not sure given lack of skill, osteoarthritis in the hands that I will ever tackle that sort of project.
I see me moving the tool to far and having bits of shattered wood and a tool flying past my head
