Completely the opposite, I totaly accept that in the grand scheme of things I am just one very small microscopic fish in a huge ocean and that this also applies to the human race, infact even more miniscule as the universe is so many magnitudes larger. The issue comes when people cannot accept this thought, they believe they are better than the average so try and stand out. The worst examples are titles like sir and baroness which belong in the history books as part of a pigeon holed society that is thankfully coming apart.
Sorry did you say something?

If you check out her history she had two apprenticeship both with top end guitar makers and has combined story telling along with guitar making to get her to where she is now and is very well known in guitar world, she must be very good at what she does she describes herself as a Luthian (might have spelt that wrong ) guitar maker .

Stumpy nubs never puts out videos where he is posing in a 'manly' way. Pretty much all of his videos are pictures of the workpiece or tool in question. Neither does WorkshopCompanion, unless you are into aprons. Neither does the swedish maker or lincoln street woodworks or any of the other I watch.

I want to know what they are making, not what they look like. If they put a click bait title or image then I don't watch. If the video is a guy in a tight top flexing his guns, I'd call it out just the same and avoid watching that.
I just looked at stumpy’s channel. Loads of the thumbnails have pictures of him in them, looking rather fetching

What's hilarious to me as an Aussie, is that many here don't seem to realise that video was shot in Australia...

In the middle of bloody SUMMER!!!!

(and going by the trees in the background she's not in Victoria either- likely around Brisbane or further north but closer to the coast than I am... its semitropical or tropical rainforest)

To give you an idea, today it was over 38C here (thats 98F for the hogheads in cubits people) and thats been one of the cooler days this summer thanks to the cyclone...

(plus she's wearing quite a 'conservative' top for here lol- I see far smaller ones walking down the main street every day...)
:ROFLMAO:

(I spent the day in my own workshop, rebuilding a small Briggs and Stratton motor for a rideon, only thing I been wearing all day was a pair of shorts- I doubt Youtube would have allowed her to post the video if she had been dressed like me lol)

Its after 1am here ATM, having a few brews lol- and its STILL 26C (79F) and still in my shorts AND with the fan going...

Strewth! That bloke's got no hides!

Get dressed immediately before someone here gets too excited for their own good by your unhidden aspect. Even the description you make of yoursen is going to get some Y-fronts in a knot. :)

Whatever floats your boat ;)

2 apprenticeships seems greedy! How long is a luthier apprenticeship? 4 years? So 8 years training? Very impressive. There used to be a school of guitar making in Totnes years ago. Many acoustic guitarists still play old Martins from the 20s and thirties. Martin carthy and many others love those guitars but it's beyond my knowledge what makes those desirable or even how much there worth(there a rare thing) even mass produced gibsons were very well thought off. Maybe the bespoke makers fill in for the lack of available vintage instruments(blues men often played parlour guitars not dreadnoughts)

It's such a mature craft it's hard to imagine how you go about improving on things. Certainly the material quality will be inferior to a hundred years ago(if its like every other craft)
The soundboard choice was between pine and cedar , cedar being a new kid on the block. Maybe she's exploring the range of Australian exotics(I guess the soundboard are brought from Europe or maybe North America for cedar.)

My boat floats on the froth & spume of internettery burble and fizz, even through the sturm und drang of a Jacob squall or the large gasps of excitement-wind from avid You Tube vid watchers of bare-armed woodworkers, which only pushes at my sails. I have noticed a few leaks and a bit of plank-rot, though. Also, the rudder came adrift and floated orf years ago.

Plenty good timbers for instrument making here. A lot of the luthiers here are trying out local tone woods and a good thing too. I have chatted a few times with this luthier at music festivals and he was kind enough to encourage my very humble efforts.

Cedar is (well was) one of the more prolific timbers from when I was living in northern NSW and was the major source of income in the area for much of its history...

The first house I owned was about 15km from the cedar log at Lismore City Hall...

The Red Cedar Loop in the Border ranges has possibly the largest red cedar left in the area, at nearly 50m high...

There is still cedar logging, but it is much more controlled these days than what it was then...

Pine is also very common in Australia (in fact it is more common these days than cedar) and is commonly used in the housing industry for framing- with both native pines and introduced species around in tree plantations...

In fact one of the oldest pine species in Australia was only fairly recently rediscovered (it had been thought extinct since the time of the dinosaurs) and only a couple of hundred km from Sydney!!!! ie the Wollemi pine, found in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney...
