Gym membership is as useless as the excersize bike. If you're not going to get a bicycle out the shed then you're also not going to go to the gym. I never even considered gym membership because I knew I'd never go.

I do have an excersize bike and did use it consistently for a year or so, funnily enough, not after I bought it but much later on when it had sat about with sporadic use. That was because I realised how unfit I was and wanted to do something about it. Got out of the habit again over xmas.

It's like anything, unless you want to do it, you never will. Watching the telly helps. It is deadly boring.

Buy your good lady, yourself and the boys Badminton rackets, book a court at your local liesure centre (usualy under £5)
more often than not you dont find the lycra clad luvvies as you find at gyms, its indoors, dry, warm-above all it becomes very addictive very quickly-and you dont really notice the 'burn' -one of the best calorie shifters there is !

I have a small home gym. Need to be very determined to continue to use it. Need goals and targets.

Exactly.

I wouldn't go near a gym, why?
Because it's indoors, cold and flu germs get spread about, you are breathing in other peoples coughs and germs and when breathing heavy it goes straight down.
Sweaty, this gunk all gets left on the machines and you are next to pick it up and wipe it on yourself, what's the first thing you have to do when entering a hospital? sanitize your hands, not so in a gym
Cost, try and cancel your membership.
The gym is the most unhealthy place to exercise. Outdoors is clean, more fun and above all free.

Hi, Andy

I work at a university, 22,000 students from all around the world and 2,500 staff so germs are allways avalable, and now I have stopped licking the machines I haven't had a bout of consumption for weeks.
