I'm with dedee on this, to adjust the height just turn the wheel, the push to engage action tilts the blade but only when the locking knob is released. Had my 419 for 5 years now and not a peep of problems

Also the 2600 has a wider wheel - it can grind a 50mm plane blade without the need to travese from side to side, mind you I still do that just to even out the wear. I love my 2006 and even though it cost a bit, it is so much easier keeping everything sharper, than it used to be with my old...

There are always plenty of #7s on ebay, the older the better, they need just a much fettling as a new stanley and they are more stable. Plus much cheaper just a thought :wink:

I've got a mate who epoxied in a piece of hardwood into the mitre slot , and routed in a T slot into the hardwood, seems to work fine, and it it breaks he just replaces the wood. I think his T slot is smaller than the standard ones as it takes M4 bolts but it works a treat Just a thought.

Interesting Idea! I have a veritas twin screw vice (with linking chain) but I must admit I hate it - I've ranted here before about this. Think about these issues: The veritas vice has fixed wooden handles and thus you can guarantee they always stick up above the bench top and snag wood/power...

I was viewing the T11 ads with envy, Steve is it as good as it seems? ( I seem to remember by T9 also has a non standard fence rod spacing - luckily i use my T5 with the fences and the T9 under the table)

I'm with Alf on the Shellacs, I use de-???? methyl alcohol but my supplies are a bit varied, so only for the blond, for the garnet I use good old meths as that is easy to get, mind you I never polish to a high gloss finish (I've started negotiating with Houtslager to teach me that fine old art...
