    Cheap HVLP Spraygun

My dad picked one up for me from Warrington (Plenty more he said), I've always wanted a HVLP but could not justify the reddies for a Fuji et al. This seems to fit the bill wonderfully, as I will only be an occasional user. Thanks for the tip Philly, I will be home in beautiful country to pick...

    Trying the picture thing

Pitty it has to be painted, maybe one of Phillies B&Q HVLPs will help? Well done for promoting the 45 - I use mine more and more these days. Just so much safer than a router. Da iawn

    Mail order timber?

It's a long story but I once mail-ordered some elm and walnut from SL Hardwoods, and I even asked for some walnut with interesting grain. They deliverred very nice elm, and wonderful walnut for me. http://www.slhardwoods.co.uk/

    Kity 419 - It's Broken Already

I'm with dedee on this, to adjust the height just turn the wheel, the push to engage action tilts the blade but only when the locking knob is released. Had my 419 for 5 years now and not a peep of problems

    Tormek 1206 vs 2600

Also the 2600 has a wider wheel - it can grind a 50mm plane blade without the need to travese from side to side, mind you I still do that just to even out the wear. I love my 2006 and even though it cost a bit, it is so much easier keeping everything sharper, than it used to be with my old...

    which one glue?

If it was my plane I'd use just normal PVA glue, or you could even make a new one like Alf has just done: https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5595

    Edge joining

There are always plenty of #7s on ebay, the older the better, they need just a much fettling as a new stanley and they are more stable. Plus much cheaper just a thought

replacing the miter slot on a DW744 with a t-slot

I've got a mate who epoxied in a piece of hardwood into the mitre slot , and routed in a T slot into the hardwood, seems to work fine, and it it breaks he just replaces the wood. I think his T slot is smaller than the standard ones as it takes M4 bolts but it works a treat Just a thought.

    Twin-screw vise

It was built by Chris Erpelding for Gary Blaise and is featured on the back of FWW 131 August 1988 It has 2 twin screw vices and a board holder that I copied for my bench, and as for the up and down movement - well (if it remains stable) it's just the bee knees. My scanner is bust any other...

    Twin-screw vise

Interesting Idea! I have a veritas twin screw vice (with linking chain) but I must admit I hate it - I've ranted here before about this. Think about these issues: The veritas vice has fixed wooden handles and thus you can guarantee they always stick up above the bench top and snag wood/power...

Yes I have to agree, I had in mind a project with tapered legs and this article has spurred me on to start.

    Trend T11

I was viewing the T11 ads with envy, Steve is it as good as it seems? ( I seem to remember by T9 also has a non standard fence rod spacing - luckily i use my T5 with the fences and the T9 under the table)

    Market Research Question 1: Shellac

I'm with Alf on the Shellacs, I use de-???? methyl alcohol but my supplies are a bit varied, so only for the blond, for the garnet I use good old meths as that is easy to get, mind you I never polish to a high gloss finish (I've started negotiating with Houtslager to teach me that fine old art...

Alf I've been hunting around for a round wooden spokeshave, keep us posted oh how it goes making yours and then I may consider making one too. I've got some super dutch tiger sugar maple that is crying out to be made into a tool handle! Any thoughts anyone on the best woody round base spokey...
