Hi folks.

I need a device that will play mp3 files, either from a memory stick, or from files directly written to the device itself.
It needs to have the facility to plug into a sound-mixer, to play the files over a PA or guitar amp, so I can take it out with me to play backing tracks, for my guitar playing in hotel lounges etc.
I also need to record from it, onto my PC for uploading videos to YouTube.

Any recording/audio wizards who might be able to advise me on what mp3 player to buy? Or will I need to use a tablet or a laptop?

I'd be obliged
My Thanks in anticipation.

Tascam do some nice hand held recorders/players that have USB interfaces and SD cards and superb sound. I have a GT-R1 recorder/trainer that can play back however one of their small 6 track mixers like the DP-006 may be more suitable and cheap second hand. The USB is for connection to a PC, not a stick but if you use and SD to USB converter youo can load it onto the SD card or just transfer from your PC via USB.

Thanks fellers.

Andy.

I thought about using my phone but it isn't so smart a phone. I can't use the headset with it, as I keep getting a jingle, whenever an email comes in. Also my 'Album' keeps vanishing, so I decided to let it go when the contract runs out and go back to a PAYG simple phone! It's an Xperia, and has been in once for checking. Waste of time.

Ooops.. I posted an incomplete post!

So, the smartphone is out I'm afraid. If worst comes to worst, I can go on a familiarisation course to get up to speed on modern technology.

I also have a Boss recorder, that's not much bigger than my phone. But despite religiously following the operating manual, the end result just doesn't happen. I left that aside in disgust. Maybe I can sell that on Amazon and buy something that is a little more intuitive to use.
Anyhow, thanks for the advice chaps.

I have a couple of friends who sing professionally in Mallorca, and they use backing tracks on an iPod.
When you say you need to record from it, fo you mean video, or just audio, and do you mean at the same time as playing your backing tracks?
