A little project I am just starting which may be of interest. I have already cut up a load of 25mm mrmdf which will become the shelving unit. There's a few mitre joins in this and the mitres have been cut on the panel saw and then jointed with dominoes

A 3mm round is put on the inside edges as it will be impossible to do after its assembled

I made up some cramping blocks by doing 2 45 degree saw cuts in some cls timber these are clamped onto the mdf shelves

The cramping blocks then allow the mitres to be pulled up nicely with pressure across the mitre

Some bits that have been assembled so far

When its done it should look a bit like this . There's some big scribes to the wall and some led lighting around the edges

i like the idea of the clamping blocks- much better than the band clamps i have tried to use on boxes.

Today's instalment started on the Carcases and realised I had made a mistake with the length of the sides . I had not added on the thickness of the top and bottom so the solution was to turn the sides around so the holes I had already dominoed were on the outside and make some new bottoms and tops that the sides sit onto. The mistake can be seen here but won't be seen after installation

The Carcases were marked out for the dividers

A simple fence clamped on to guide the domino

The domino slots are off centre on the 25mm mdf cause its easier to mark a everything out with the 10mm offset on the machine

Going to start on the veneering next and hope it gets a little warmer soon so I can start spraying.

Jon,

Looking great. Did you consider making the vertical partitions in the bottom carcass double thickness to align with the top carcass? Not a criticism just curious as that's what I would probably do.

Regards,

DT

Hi DT i did consider it but wanted the grain of the wood to flow through on the bottom carcase .

It's pretty much still at the stage as shown in the last photos. Hope to get some time on it soon but have been very busy with other work
