We are never away from some form of light,if all the uks light's(every form of light) was turned off at the point of eclipse how dark would it really be :shock: ?.How dark is total darkness?

I go caving and when you get far enough underground, there is total darkness. If you turn off your light, it will be one of the few times that you can experience a total absence of light. And in the right cave you can also get total silence, a complete absence of any manmade noise. Freaks out some people, I find it really relaxing.

I was in one of the last groups of people to go through the Dudley Canal Tunnel before it was closed. Half way through they turned off the lights. Dark, you couldn't see your hand put in front of your face. Now that's dark.

My wife and kids once took a holiday on a farm near Helston, I think that's in another country , went to visit them and left the farmhouse at midnight, couldn't see my hands in front of my face, definitely scary for a London boy.
