timber identification please

Purchased this offcut last week, it does not feel a weighty piece, is it a funny colour of beech?

To me, it looks quite like meranti.

Many thanks all, my old window cills/frames were meranti and I agree the grain is much the same, although this piece is much lighter in colour.


BTW no email notifications came in again after OPJ post. I notice when I open my email in the mornings it is very empty these days, is it UKworkshop or Virginmedia?

I have had a go at Richards staff but they somehow duck the problem.

There were a few incidents where the UKW forum failed to pass on PMs.

Sometimes the phpBB software has glitches and this may be part of that.

I know on another forum that I belong to which uses the latest version of phpBB, the techie in charge pulls his hair out sometimes with bugs.

You may running headlong into a pinkish kipper with VirginMedia.....

Might be Meranti, or it could be steamed Beech, that goes pinkish when it's steamed.

It being such a light colour version of those timbers mentioned above is what made me post the picture. (Also it is lightweigt)
