The private sector. Where it always comes from. Where else does anyone think it comes from?
That’s clearly nonsense. Take the University sector as an example. The Universities in Greater Manchester - “Public First estimated that the Manchester universities created £5.3 billion in value for the UK in 2018/19, £2.1 billion for Greater Manchester (2.7% of the GM economy) and £1.2 billion for Manchester”

Public spending is enormously profitable but it doesn't show up on balance sheets. But the profit is out there in terms of the value it adds to the quality lives, businesses and other activities. Taxation is merely recouping some of this profit. What goes around comes around.

The problem with these kinds of stats is double counting. The university includes the value its students create after graduation when they are largely earning in the private sector. Similarly the private sector don’t apply a ‘discount’ for the contribution that the universities made to their employees. This happens every time you see these ‘value’ estimates.

But there is no simple way of valuing how many things add to or change the quality of our lives, which is why the world of finance should not rule.

The state agrees the terms- quality, price, quantity etc
nah

the "state" chooses contracts based on who donates to the party and which MP makes some money out of it

there is a reason why so many Conservative MPs have connections to private health care.........and its not quality, price, quantity.

If drugs were legal then it has several advantages, they would be cheaper and so people would not turn to crime in order to fund there addiction, peoples workshops would not be targeted and you could get a tax revenue from the sales like tobaco and alcohol. It would also thin out the number of addicts because some would just behave like kids in a sweetshop and over endulge but then that is just natural selection working. Overall it is a win win for the police, justice system, prisons and society.

The new Labour government are doing something which is obvious yet not something we have seen for the last 14 years:

They are putting people with actual experience in cabinet positions and advisors

James Timpson: Minister of state for prisons

Patrick Vallance: Minister of State for Science

Richard Hermer: Attorney General

also note: these are people who have not been appointed because they are mates of the government

I thought we'd had enough of experts...
Oh, wait! That was the last lot!

Believe what you want.

In 2023 businesses and private individuals gave £13m to the Labour party - up 500% from 4 years earlier. Does this represent genuine support for the Labour party, or an attempt by many of the larger contributors to influence legislation in the event of a Labour win.

The basic principle for civil servants is not to undertake any activity that could call into question their political impartiality This principle applies to all staff. There are over 0.5m civil servants - are they all possibly complicit in some sort of cover up in fear for their jobs.

Not all politicians or civil servants are beyond reproach - some have abused their position. It is unsurprising many Tory MPs invest in healthcare companies - (a) they often have personal wealth which needs to be invested and (b) healthcare is a growing sector (public or private).

Overall ascribing corrupt and ill intent to all Tories is about as justified as the painting by Reform of all illegal migrants as economic benefits cheats unfairly denying Brits that for which we should have priority. Partially true but unfair to most.

That any administration appoints people with actual experience when forming a government after 14 years in opposition makes very good sense.

The Tories appointed many to ministerial positions over the last 14 years (last was David Cameron) - although process and scrutiny have been called into question at times.

It would greatly surprise me if the new Labour appointees were:
  • other than well known to, and friends of, senior Labour cabinet members, and
  • identified closely with the Starmer strategic intent - so no change there.

have any examples of Tories appointing anybody that wasnt a mate or a supporter of the brexit con, or vested self interest

I can think of many examples of tories appointing people completely lacking suitable expertise:

David Frost as brexit secretary -a person with zero experience in trade negotiations
Suella Braverman as attorney general -a person with zero experience for that position

there are dozens I could find

i can think of a single person the Tories appointed that was actually an expert -certainly not since 2019, as every MP was chosen for their allegience to pushing brexit lies

It's not really "exposed", is it? This stuff was all declared, as far as I know.
any video titled "exposed" or "do not want you to see" is a load of **** if there were anything damaging in it the tories would have been shouting it from the rooftops, its propaganda for gullible idiots.

I also won’t watch anything that include “then this happened” or “won’t believe what happened next”. Invariably they are a load of **** too

give it a rest Jacob, Corbyn lost twice, Starmer won with 412 MPs

.......
But with fewer votes than 2019. Not surprising given the divisiveness and negativity of the campaign.
By the way what has happened to Starmer's often referenced "stain of antisemitism"? Has it finally been expunged? With seal of approval from the Israeli apartheid regime?
Or is it merely to be forgotten, like so much of his miserably dubious manoeuvrings?
Have to say they are putting on a good show in this first week. Let's hope they can keep it up.
