Bearing in mind the appaling ****-up that happened with the last issue of F&C (and it's not the first time) I'm debating whether to cancel my sub and just take BW instead. Trouble is, I can't make up my mind :duno: - Rob

I would worry more about the content and whether you find it enjoyable/relevant, rather than small omissions or mistakes (although I believe this months don't really count as 'small').

Rob I tend to pickup F&C every now and then when the mood takes me. I find that there is quite enough woodworking information on the web for me to consume and BW picks up the slack. BW is the only one I will pick up every issue and the only reason I haven't subscribed is that I'm bone idle. My Popular Woodworking sub finished last issue and, although I like the mag, I'd rather view it online (if they ever implement that) and save the cost. I do have a sub to FWW online but recently I've been wondering if it's worth the money. I do like having access to their wealth of information, but it can be months between going on there to catch up.

So my advice is kick the sub in to touch and pick it up as and when you fancy it.

hi rob

everybody makes mistakes , including you, no one is perfect ,I don't make small mistakes when I make a mistake I have to pull the bloody house down . hc

Head Clansman,
Every one does make mistakes that is true, but that doesn`t help if you have bought the mag.If I make a mistake I put it right and I pay for it. F&C have apologized but what good is that, I still have a magazine with an unfinished article in it. Wouldn`t it be nice if they gave us subscribers some sort of freebie just to let us know their apology is sincere. Just for the record this is not the first time an article has appeared in the mag with bits missing or edited in such a way that they don`t make sense.

Hi Rob

I must admit I don't care whether you do or don't. What I don't understand is the excitement that these mistakes have caused both on this forum and the woodworkers institute, I'm sure that someone will demand that the editor commit hari hiri soon. Someone made a mistake, it's not the end of the world.

I wonder if some of the excitement is putting the boot in on the new editor or possibly scheardenfraude (correct spelling as required!) at the top magazine cocking up.

Everybody makes mistakes, but what seperates the sheep from the goats is what happens after you've made a screw up - just shrugging your shoulders and apologising isnt good enough imo - at the least the magazine should extend the subscriptions by one issue.

I think the title be 'should I stay or should I go?'.

I have a similar question - should I have cereal or toast for breakfast tomorrow?

presumably rob isnt a clash fan

you should defintely have cereal, preferbably porridge or muselli as the slow release carbs will sustain you during the day , and stop any possibility of sugar lows causing any irrationality or mood swing. ;)

Perhaps they should publush the missing bits in the next available issue.

While we'e talking about that issue, I wonder how much Mr Ingham paid fo his new Felder?

I was going to ask everyone the best method for wiping my ar$e....?

Love their first album, but downhill from there for me.

Re breakfast, well that's a start, thanks, but I need a few more opinions so I can make up my mind. I wasn't going to have any jam so the sugar low thing is a bit of a red herring, but a sensible factor to consider otherwise.

Speaking of herrings I could have a kipper, but although they are quite tasty I have never found them to be a very appetising breakfast.

a similar thing happened with another mag i subscribe to (not this industry) - the glue was wrong and pages kept falling out. ok it was a pita but you could still read it, the entire subscriber run was re-printed at considerable cost to someone. It was done to keep up the good name of the mag within the industry.
the theory was you want to keep subscribers and advertisers happy - lose either by a substandard print run and you soon start losing money.

It's simple. If you don't like the content of the mag, cease buying it. As I understand it, this is a one off mistake about the missing pages. Personally, I'd never stop buying a magazine because they missed 2 pages in 1 issue. Personally, I've stopped taking it on a regular basis because the content doesn't really warrant the price tag, IMPO.

I agree entirely
