Do you think that you could tell the difference yourself between different models of toaster, or do you get easily confused when it gets beyond number of slots and power output?

Let's say without; it doesn't seem necessary - assuming you have eyes.

Jake. not being a keen toast maker only if the manufacturers name is clearly displayed at which point I would conclude that it is a device for lightly charring bread and that the brand name has little significance.
What is the power rating and how many slots does it have.
I think ours is chrome.

Regards obtusely Tom

Oh well, all I can say is that it is just as well that judges aren't dumb.

Jake, being unable to speak would certainly be a disadvantage.

Regards Tom

Update:

In their last letter, where B&Q were basically telling me to get stuffed they alleged that they had offered me an alternative router at the same price. So ever the optimist I wrote back and asked which model was this alleged router.

Got a telephone call today.

Young lady from B&Q "I'm calling you about the alternative router"

"Uh-huh..what are you recommending? The Triton has several unique features that I need"

"It's a Trend. I'll get Graham our expert to call you back"

thinks....mmmm...possibly might be interested....never had a Trend..nice T10 or T11 for £98.98...good to try out..

Phone goes again and paraphrasing..

"Hello ..it's Graham from B&Q..got just the router for you. Has all the features of a Triton. It's yours for £98"

"OK- maybe - what model is it?"

"It's a Trend T-Tech 2050"

Ummmm...that's a hard one ?? :-k

I then went on to gently point out where all the Triton routers were in their branch network (courtesy of all you guys and your posts) and basically told to get in my car. Nice.

Roger, I have the T-Tech 2050 and it's not a bad router though a bit overpriced at around £100. Would I swap it for a big Triton...you bet I would. Would I swap the other way.....? Not bl**dy likely.

Some expert he is.

So what is the plan of action now Roger?

Well..just had a call from B&Q Hereford and the girl told me that they had spoken to Trading Standards who stated that because they had given me my money back that there was no longer a contract.

So either Trading Standards have got it wrong, Jake has got it wrong or B&Q are lying. So guess I'll speak to Trading Standards.

EDIT: Spoke to Trading Standards who agreed 100% with what Jake says.

Of course they did. Or they'd be wrong!

Edit: Well, actually, technically the issue of whether the contract still exists or not is a different question to whether you have a right to damages. The contract may well have come to an end when you accepted their repudiation (their refusal to supply and the return of the payment), but that doesn't mean you aren't entitled to the damages you are seeking. Alternatively, you haven't accepted that repudiation and are still trying to get them to fulfill the contract. Either way, it matters not a jot, practically.

And just to show how good B&Q are trying to be, the T-Tech 2050 router is now in the end of range stock at the clearance price of £74.98(Birmingham store 7pm today!)

And it's not really a TREND router as it used to be blue and sold as a Performance Power pro at , you guessed it, less than £100

That's what I said to the B&Q guy and he 'assured me that it was not'. Plonker.

Another idea Roger, although it might not be advisable. You should be entitled to go into any B&Q in the country, pick up a Triton router and just walk out. Might be fun

just found this on the forum. If you have your receipt you can go to another store and do a straight forward exchange
