Router instead of a scrollsaw?

Hi folks
Probably sacriledge on this forum but as I`m getting used to my scrollsaw I did wonder if a router fitted upside down in a router table with the correct cutter would achieve the same thing :shock: . Mmmmm thinking furthur about it I`m not sure a human hand hovering above a blade spinning at thousands of revs cutting freehand is maybe not a good idea after all :oops: :oops:

if you do that steve you stand a very good chance of "Wizering" yourself - see his thread about his finger meets router accident.

also router cutters are considerably fatter than a scrollsaw blade so the kerf would be much bigger
 
With a guide bearing they can be usedfor rounding over the edges of segmentation or intarsia work, but I wouldn't like to think of trying to divide a line with one :?
