I've been building a kitchen for a customer but doing it in stages, the final part was the island which I finished Friday ready for the worktops getting fitted yesterday.

The island is about 1.6m x 1.9m, made of Maple and Birch ply.

Don't think I ever posted a picture of the base units with the sink in, the sink is massive, it weighs 75kg!

The Qooker tap is quite impressive, as well as the normal hot and cold water it also dispenses carbonated water, chilled water and boiling water while still looking like an old brass tap.

The sharp eyed ones among you might have noticed that despite being fitted at the same time the Quartz worktops on the sink unit are 30mm thick but on the island only 20mm thick................the supplier is not sure what happened but is replacing the island top with the correct 30mm thick one in the new year

Only things left to do is a shelf above the Aga and some shutters for the window then Christmas can start for me 🙂

Hope they take care removing the 20 mm top, it would be a real shame to damage your work, it looks amazing as always Doug. And again I’m impressed at how quickly you turn it out!

Superb finishing on the fronts

Got the shelf up over the Aga today, the brackets are Maple but the shelf is Birch ply, it's very warm above an Aga and I thought ply had more chance of staying flat than solid wood.

I start making the window shutters tomorrow, might do a bit of a WIP if I get chance.

I for one would be very interested in a shutter wip, I’m presuming outdoor but either would be v welcome.
I just know you will have a trick or two!

Oak wash stand with a drawer under for a small deck mounted basin, to go in a small cloak room, so no sharp corners, the tap will be mounted to the left side, hence the shape, and the tapered legs are housed into the sides and set back to give some knee room when using the loo.

A few pictures some recent output from my workshop. Sorry about the poor photography.

A vase I turned a year ago and it sat in a cupboard until I got the idea to do some carving on it.

There is a local xmas craft fare here and I spent a month putting all of this together for it. I did quite well and sold about a quarter of my stock, mostly the chopping boards.
