Wouldn't call it a masterstroke, maybe a bit of a gamble, after all he is 29 and injury prone, but could be a Ole Gunnar Solksjear supersub type player, providing he gets fit.

Then you never know what will happen, look at Heskey, he got back in the England team.

Exactly, Ole went down as a legend in United history. I really think that Owen could recreate this 'supersub' stardom. And of course, getting one over on Liverpool would be great! It is a gamble, but what a gamble if it pays off!

Oh dear!!!

Well Mark let me explain,if you did my workshop tour you would know that I follow Liverpool.
Now not wanting to start a football riot on the forum  It just made me laugh to read the bit about getting one over Liverpool would be great.
Actually I think it is the other way round,Michael Owen was a great player when he played for us,and since he left, at club level he really has not been the same player, agreed?
Now for the good bit, IMO he has and never will get back to where he was so when Sir Alex gave him the number 7 shirt it is quite funny. When you think of the legends that played in the number 7 shirt for United and now he is wearing it just does not seem right.
I have a mate who is a staunch United fan and is a member of the United forum/message boards and it is not going down well him having the Number 7 shirt by all accounts.

Having said all that and it is TIC, he will probably get the winner agaisnt us at Anfield so he who laughs etc etc,

Anyway no malice meant.

Mark.

Ahhh, and now it all becomes clear :D

No malice taken mate, a nice bit of footy rivalry is good for the soul ;)

I know what you're saying about him, and maybe it is my blind optimism in him being our 'biggest' signing, which is a bit embarrassing  but I really do think (or more probably, hope) that he will score bagfuls for us given the service he will get.

Giving him the number 7 shirt on the other hand, most ridiculous decision Ferguson has made in a long, long time, well since Djemba X2 and Klobberdson anyway...

No get back to being scouse and nicking stuff, while I go and have a peek round your workshop tour ;)

Are you a proper scouser or can I mock you for being one of them fans that I get so much stick about (from anywhere except Manchester).

Doesn't apply to me as I'm a Manc born and bred, until I moved out t'country f' t' quiet life :D

Mock away my good man,not a scouser but apparently my family goes back to there from a lot of years ago, well before they had football.

I know what you mean about the Manc thing, I bet you get fed up fighting that battle.
Should be a good season, and I think we will run you very close again but there could be more danger from the otherside of Manchester in the next couple of years  money is going to kill this game one day.

You seem like a nice bloke so I'll leave the mocking for when Owen gets the winner at Anfield... ;)

I know what you mean about 'The Other Side', most of my mates are of that persuasion and it has been great, even recently when they have taken a good few points off us, to be able to say 'I will happily lose to you lot twice a season and still win the league', not sure how much longer that's going to last... :(

I think your boys will run us close again definitely, but still think they need to sort out grinding out the little teams and the older Gerrard gets the harder that's going to be. He makes them tick, like Keano used to do for us, Istanbul being the prime example, you were absolutely fecked in that game and there isn't another player in your squad, or probably even in English football at that time that could have changed a game so massively the way he did.

Anyway, I'm getting way too close to praising your wife beating bunch of muggers now, so I'll leave it there ;)

And yes, money will definitely kill football unless someone gets a grip...
