Long time no post - indeed I believe my first this year - so happy new year. Been away on hols and busy following up new jobs and finishing the library and study. 99% done now - just the lectern and pediments to go up.

The more observant among you will notice that most of the books are two deep in the shelves and that fact along with a further 70 boxes still packed means that I am drawing up designs for another two runs of cabinets (possibly three) as well as a set of cabinets for 3,000 or so CDs. :) Hopefully I'll be the one to make them! Clients are very pleased (as am I to be honest) but I did think I might be able to finally stop seeing green in my sleep.

It is going to get properly photographed at some point and the sparky needs to come an sort out the lighting tails so that they don't project worms on to the ceiling.

Cheers

Tim

Tim,
Great workmanship - and all that scribing!

The green is a bit OTT for my taste but that is the client's privilege I guess. I am trying to imagine it in BRG..

ive heard of going green, but thats taking the p*ss. it is very nice, i like it 10/10 :eek:ccasion5:

Underneath the Christmas tree colour scheme lurks some very nice work!

Looks very nice. The green with MDF showing through in places works very well for me.

Lovely job

Excellent work,Tim - you just work on a whole different scale to anything I've done yet

Many thanks for your comments. The green is rather polarising - I was horrified when they suggested it but I do actually think it works very well. The rooms are quite dark and if the green had been darker it could have ended up looking black (they definitely wanted green) or if it had been more pastel it would have been rather insipid.

Please tell me you are joking!

It is gold - a combination of treasure gold leaf, gilt varnish and gilt wax. All the gold was applied after painting was complete. The door panels were done with a steady hand a bit of masking tape; the flutes were done by using artists masking fluid (thanks Jason for the idea) rolled onto the flat part using a foam mini roller. The gold was applied with an artists brush and then the fluid rubbed off 24hours later. Not a quick job but I haven't discovered a better way yet.

Cheers

Tim,
I'll reserve judgement on the green as I have not seen it in the flesh. The last 2 images of the desk seem to show two distinct shades, caused by the camera no doubt.

Is the "real" colour closer to the penultimate image of the desk corner/end or the last shot of the desk front?

Andy

You've made a really nice job of that Tim! Personally I hate the green but then I didn't pay for it and if the clients are happy that's what matters!

Well done!

Cheers
