Well I know it's only Tinternet but a google of "twin tenon" shows this as hit #1:

The mid rail in his example is both twin (by my terms) and double (again, by my terms). It's also, of course, double by Ellis (according to Roger's ref).

I wonder if this is one of those planer/thicknesser/jointer/planer merry-go-rounds? :)

I think we all on on the same page with our thinking and that is all that matters.
I would recommend the Ellis book, a great reference tool. and a good read in general

thats no problem steve - we'll just describe it as maskerist terminology , and if you sell enough dvds yours will become the terminology in common useage :lol:
