There are literally thousands upon thousands of examples of old breadboard end tables.

Yes, amongst millions of tables, but when you start looking for breadboard ends on tables they are less common than you might think and tend to be only for utilitarian uses - kitchens etc.
Also for bread boards of course and cheaper drawing boards - better quality boards are on battens with slotted screws.

In the "Good Old Days " perhaps, but there is no need now for solid wood drawing boards. My old one from college days is made from block board.
