Sometimes I can't be bothered to change into 'scruffs' to work in the garage.

My old apron, received for a good friend on the forum for my 40th, is now past its best and needs replacing, so what do you wear to protect clothes when equally lazy? apron? lab coat? overalls?.......

Can be upgraded with 0.5 micron dust masks too

Tony.
I like to wear my turners smock now for most jobs in the w/s,especially this time of year, but can be a bit warm in the summer.
Does keep a lot of dust off :D

When turning,I generally wear a polo shirt;untucked,to let the sawdust and shavings fall out.
When routing, normally still wear a traditional apron,to stop most of the dust.

But at the moment, the sub-zero temperatures make the gorilla suit look tempting..

Turning smock gets to be used as all can do cover up these days, across the back pockets to stop the shavings collecting are just as handy when doing other tasks.

Big consideration is that any frontal zip is well covered by seams to prevent damage to finished items when handling for hand paring etc.

I'm afraid I just wear my normal cothes whether I'm in the workshop, down the pub, or on my allotment.

Matalan Jeans - 2 pairs for £8.00
T Shirt - £2.00
Checked 'Norm' Shirt worn open as a style statement a la Charlie Stubbs - £4.50
Pair of Work Boots - £20.00

Any item of clothing I own is cheap enough to be discarded when too dirty. As my jeans are generally caked in silicon, caulk and glue within a week of buying them you can imagine how many I get through!

For anyone just joining us, I'd like to point out that Dave's idea of of naked woodworking is a joke and really should not be copied.

At the very least you should wear your tap-tap safety glasses.

I'm another one for cheap "work clothes" which, indeed, I do tend to wear around the house and down the pub as well!

I am tempted to buy a pair of overalls and give them a go, though. But it's my footwear giving me my biggest concerns. I used to wear my steel toe caps all the time (in the workshop...) but, since college has become pretty lax (allowing footwear that "looks" tough) I've decided to gradually ruin a pair of shoes I bought last year for going out in, instead!

:)

I can sometimes be found in the workshop in a dressing gown - lighting the burner before breakfast. It has been awkward to open the door to come face to face with a delivery man!

I wear mainly quite hardweariing stuff like Carrhart which I get when I have been in Canada or have bought on line. When I'm on site I generally wear a polo shirt and trousers/ shorts. My footwear of choice are Merrel trainers - I have never found any shoe with steel toe caps to be anything other than very uncomfortable and tiring. I think its a risk worth taking if I stay alert longer.

Cheers

Tim

Asda jeans are only £3 a pair. :)

I also wear my woodturners smock for just about everything these days, it has my name on......which is really useful when I forget who I am. Then usually shorts most of the year, which really annoys our lass, cos my socks and shoes fill with shavings daily and get transported round the house!
 :)

Sounds like something from "The Great Escape" Gordon.

I wuz robbed!

Actually I go for Matalan's because I know they fit me and I don't need to try them on. I just go in a couple of times a year, pick up half a dozen pairs, some some undies and a few shirts and that's job done!

However, Mrs T is dragging me to Primark in Manchester on Friday for some more classy gear!
