I am a California Yankee woodworker going to Ireland this summer for some recreation time. I will be driving my family across the southern part of the country from Dublin to Galway.

May I ask, if anyone has any suggestions for Woodworking places along the way? Maybe a good museum or store? Thank you in advance. :D

Not too sure of any woodworking museum but you'll have a great time in Galway. Fantastic place. Check out the Aran islands, you can get a 10 minute flight or an hours boat trip over from Connemara. Its like stepping back 50 years. Its also one of the few places left thats still all Irish speaking (some of the older locals would have very weak english). I worked there a couple of years ago and had a great time. The pub on Inis Meain closes when the last person leaves. Enjoy the trip and hope you get the weather.
Neil.

Sounds like going to the islands is a fun trip. I'll check it out. Thank you. :)

If it's night life you want, and you happen to be near Kinsale you must go to "The White House" Friday & Saturday night is singalong with the landlord, the funniest singalong you'll ever expierence I assure you, it's also a good resturant too. Or you could eat in an one of the sixty plus resturants in the town but for a laugh you won't beat "The White House" :D

lucky man - you could go to http://www.murphguide.com/epis-12.htm its good for the "crack"
The west coast is great place for kids the best sandy beach is (iirc) Lahinch then if you go to Spainish Point, there are some outstanding views to be had. Then you go inland to the Burrens, Galway, Clare and into Ennis there's a fine church there with some great joinery to be seen. Then you could go to some old castles, that some of your country fellows have bought re-built and use for mock medieval banquets. Clarecastle has a lot to offer and then Limerick Castle too.
Oh beejezus I could go on for weeks here
I'd better leave some room for t'others to comment :D
