Found Abwood vice handle

Hi all!

I've taken possession of an Abwood 4" tilting and swivelling vice, which has no handle. It's a square drive, measures 14.4mm, so presumably a 9/16" or 5/8" drive handle would suit? Anyone got anything?

5/8" nominal will be a bit sloppy on a 9/16" square. Make that combination out of cardboard and see how much play there is before spending your cash. A considerably bigger one is easier to shim down to size than a slightly bigger one.

'Crank handle' on eBay with suitable filtering will find something:

Cranking rotating handle cast iron new | eBay (DIY square hole)
Machine Vice Cranked Offset Handle, 3/4" (19.2mm) Square Drive Hole | eBay (Shim down to size)

RS have new ones, as do Zoro:

ELESA Crank handle-DIN 468-80-B8-F DIN 468-80-B8-F| at Zoro (See DIN reference - using that as a search term might bring useful results)

How would you fit a 9/16" hexagon or bi-hexagon socket over a SQUARE shaft of the same AF dimension?

Large hammer and red heat?

An 18mm AF 12-point socket would, however, be quite close and not need percussive methods.

You used to be able to a 5/8" eight point socket (Britool) but not made anymore. the Americans are still makeing eight sockets probaly expensive with carrige etc

I managed to pick up a crank handle with 14mm square drive that @ChaiLatte mentioned, and I've filed it to fit. Thanks again, all!
