    no 7

Cheekyboy I have just been through the same dilemma. In the end I decided to purchase the Clifton No7 from Workshop Heaven, as Alan said 10% discount plus a small tub of ProtecTool Wax to protect metal tools and free shipping at the moment. It arrived about half an hour ago! The packing was very...

    Cast Top Table Saws

Jed, The fence on the Record is very good. It has a fine adjuster, can be easily slid back for ripping real timber and can be flipped over for ripping narrow stock. Read my review of the Record here https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30267&highlight=ts200 Martin.

    Cast Top Table Saws

The Record TS200c has a cast top. Must be a Record dealer near you. Martin.

comparison Record Power ts 200 vs. SIP 01332

Alex I have the Record and am very happy with it. You can read my review of it here https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30267&highlight=ts200 I considered the SIP before I bought the Record and if I had a bigger workshop would probably have gone for the SIP but the Record is a...

£3/400 plunge saw & rail vs £100 circular saw

I have a TS55 and agree with everything jedmc571 says, yes I get it. Apart from the accuracy, safety etc of the Festool also bear in mind that you can have a selection of rails and join them together for longer lengths (you can probably do the same with the other makes as well). I have the...

    shingling

Pike, Go back to my earlier post and you will find a link to the Wickes leaflet that tells you all you need to know about laying their shingles (its on the last two pages 11 and 12 of the leaflet) Martin.

    shingling

Pike, Wickes Red Roof Shingles are not cedar they consist of strips of felt with one edge cut to look like shingle. Download this pdf from Wickes for details of how to install them. http://www.wickes.co.uk/content/ebiz/wickes/resources/images/gil/64.pdf Regards - Martin.

    Where to buy Wood?

Try Enfield Timber Company in Enfield, reasonably close to Hackney. They have a limited range of hardwood in stock but should be good for starters. I have only been there once (as I found a supplier closer to me) but they were friendly and let me into the wood store. Martin.

    How would you....

Also worth checking if the toilet seat and cover will stay in the up position if you box in the cistern. Martin.

    roof glazing

I have the 6ft x 8ft Octagonal and it went together just as it says in the instructions, no problems at all. Martin.

    roof glazing

Pike, Take a look at the Alton lean to greenhouse at the bottom of this page; http://www.altongreenhouses.co.uk/index.php/greenhouses/traditional-collection They only have one size which is 5ft wide, probably means the glass is about 6ft long, not quite as long as you are planning. Take a...

    roof glazing

The bottom picture looks like my Alton Cedar Greenhouse. There is a slot across the top and down both sides of the frame. The glass simply slides into the two side slots and is pushed into the top slot. You then screw a plastic clip on the bottom frame member to stop the glass sliding out again...

Cressing temple show - a few pictures

I agree with every one else it was a great show. Not too busy, stunning setting and helped by very good weather. I don't really get hand tools so the Holty plane that David Charlesworth was enthusing about looked superb but £2500? Very close was a Hammer combination machine that cost less and...

Hand circular saw / plunge saw

I agree with chippy1970, you cant go wrong with the Festool TS55 (apart from the price). Also agree, beware the "slippery slope" that is the Festool system. Martin.

Table saw vs. rail guided plunge saw

Given the size of your work room, the saw and rail are the best bet to get started. For a table saw you need a minimum of the full length of the timber you are trying to rip both in front and behind the saw, and the full length of the timber you are cross cutting one side plus half the length...

    Green Dakota Parallel clamps

Wizer made a good point regards Mark333 credentials. He is also entitled to his opinion about Dakota tools which appears to be based on lots of bad experiences. He has also taken the time to respond to the original question with his experiences of Dakota. Fair enough. Mark333 has qualified his...

I have had my eye on a Worksharp 3000 from Rutlands for some time but baulked at the price of around £199. The current offer is the WS3000 plus the slotted accessory kit (pre sale cost around £19.00) and free delivery all for just over £150. So I ordered one last Friday, delivered last Tuesday...
