First bowl in about 16 months. Critique please

I can follow the comments about the sides being a bit on the 'square side', but then you've basically justified why you had to do it like that too.. looks nicely turned, and well finished, and is certainly a rather lovely bit of wood Alie, I guess you'd have shaped things maybe a little...

    Something Different

    LOVE IT !!! could you carve a ring=pull maybe ? Fantastic ! 8) 8) 8) You HAVE to do the "Coca-Cola" in the scripted font ... instantly recognisable everywhere in the world ! Brilliant. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

    Slippery customer...

It does sound a bit 'iffy' ... I kept Royal Pythons for a good few years, and my mate had a 15 foot Burmese. The 15 footer would manage maybe a small to medium dog, at a push... but no way it could swallow an adult man .... And unless I'm very much mistaken .. thats a Burmese Python in the...

    Fight!

When I helped my 'keepering uncle as a lad, we'd peg a fox-fur out, or a live ferret, and the crows went nuts dive-bombing it. Maybe its some sort of territorial thing with them,I'm not sure . They're aggresive beasties though. With very young lambs, they will zoom in, and peck out the...

    Today in the workshop...

Something worth knowing about ... Many people have an allergy to Latex, and find the gloves can lead to all kinds of nasties happening to the skin of your hands .. If this is something that happens to you - go for the Nitrile ones, ( they're purple ) which will usually overcome the problem...

    Thanks Corny

Good Lad, George ... What a great post to read, Jim ... All the best with your turning, now you're 'armed' with the knowledge. :D Very nice to read this. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I can't believe this is happening...

Hi I/B ... that is the 'key phrase'. Forgive my Uber-cynicism... but its feasible that a scenario is 'open to embellishment' for the Telly. A more 'lame' script wouldn't be anything like as 'marketable'. Telly is for entertainment. Real-life unfolds before the eyes. Not saying thats the...

I can't believe this is happening...

Exactly my point. If they're not ... the problem very much exists, as highlighted. A change in the methodology cures it 100%. And in the majority of incidences, they're not present. ......... Yes, I appreciate what you're saying there... however, that system isn't doing very much about the 1 in...

Today I have been mostly listening to...

   I guess he 'serves a purpose' John! And is, in that sense, catering for a demand.... all be it from a seas of Blue Rinse's and more than a whiff of Eternity by Estee Lauder      But like you say... he's not for me, either  :lol...

I can't believe this is happening...

Yep ... Like 'do away with a 30 day covernote'. The owner of the vehicle insures it. Year on year. Sell the vehicle, the policy is recinded and a proportional sum creditied to your account with the insurance company , set against your new vehicle, or returned to you if you are giving up...

    two box's- critique

Meant to say originally ... These are superbly photographed ... There's no visible 'join' or transition in the horizontal-to-vertical plane in the backdrop.. That really helps to show the (rather lovely) work off, to its absolute best. If you did that, George .. its excellent, If it was...
