hi bugbear no i have not found the fault, although i have managed to improuve it a little by moveing the frog back, the next thing to try is to regrind the angle on the blade which seems quite steep and see if this helps. woodbutcher (richard)

nice job of repair the only comment i have is that before you aplyed the finish you should have toned the new and sanded timber back to with vandyke crystal stain to blend in the colour difference woodbutcher
