I am going to do some inlay work and as I have never done it before i want to know where you might buy it from, I am looking for some simple narrow Walnut banding, so far I have found some on www.originalmarquetry.co.uk

Are there any watch outs I should be aware of, if I use 7mm band should I cut the groove slightly smaller, would it be best practice to fit the inlay inlay berfore I cut the components to length.

I can't think why you would want to cut the groove slightly smaller. if anything it should be very slightly wider to take account of wood expansion when the glue hits it.

Hi Guys, most suppliers have been covered in the replies. The main two I use is Craft Supplies and Original Marquetry. Both give a very good service all be it in slightly different ways. You can see via the web the stock types that they have and carry out an order. Quality of the products are consistent and good. I hope this helps.

Martin if you have any questions I would be happy to help.
