question about wet sanding weird marks

With any oil based coating, it is best to wait seven days for all the solvents to evaporate/cure. And as Chas said, oak and wire wool are not a good combination.

Oh Dear - he's gone and trumped them all!

American woman on Radio 2 lunchtime had gotten hold of data that said 53% of women (in her area) would vote for trump. On that basis she got and took odds of 12 to 1. Putin's response, 2 mins 30secs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uOPFTnHG-Q

Best preservative /stain for a new shed

Use an oil based product which will soak in. If you use a water based product you will eventually regret it. Mangers Creotec is good if you can't get proper creosote or don't want to use it.

Pineapples/strawberries well done. I bet the valuing agent underplayed it by at least 5%.

    Painting a plywood desk

Wood should really be primed, then undercoated, then two coats of topcoat. Resinous wood would need aluminium wood primer. But as you are using plywood and for interior use, my advice stands on a cost basis. Coverstain is used to cover stains, so not applicable in your case. The difference...

    Painting a plywood desk

For the desk, use an oil based undercoat either dark grey or tinted to black. No need for Coverstain. (If) there are any knots anywhere on your desk, seal them with knotting solution first. For the two topcoats I would go with either oil based eggshell or oil based satin (all Trade paint - not...

Gloss/satin paint that doesn't turn yellow

Johnstone's Aqua Water Based Gloss or Satin is great. One undercoat, two topcoats. @ "tips on getting the best finish from it would also be gratefully received" Decant only what you need into a suitable container and use a synthetic brush (dampen it first). Get the paint on and lay it off very...

    Which Decking Paint

There was a thread on here a while back. I can't credit the original author but the advice was: "Scrub it with Oxalic acid. Buy it in crystal form on eBay, mix it with warm water and get on your knees with a scrubbing brush." For a finish coat try this...

Zinsser Bullseye 123 vs Coverstain. Main differences?

    http://www.zinsseruk.com/wp-content/upl ... Stain1.pdf http://www.zinsseruk.com/wp-content/upl ... Sealer.pdf The shellac based primers (BIN & Johnstone's Advanced Stain Block Primer) are the biz. http://www.zinsseruk.com/wp-content/upl ... /B-I-N.pdf http://ukppgacprd.blob.core.windows.net...

Zinsser Bullseye 123 - how thick should it be?

That is definitely too thick. Zinsser say the shelf life is two years in an *unopened tin*. Also it should be stored between 5 and 25 degrees Celsius. Perhaps something happened outside of that temperature range.
