So this is really beginning to annoy me now. A lot of the manufacturers have these ridiculous shaped cans where when you try to pour them into another container, it trickles down the sides and goes everywhere. I've tried all sorts of techniques to prevent it, going slow, going fast, constructing a spout with some tape, but I'm still getting the annoying trickle which manages to go on every other bloody surface!!!

The one below is the absolute worst! .. oh god.

hold the can flat. tip into the jug while its still flat.
when you have enough, rotate the can so the spout is at the top and the liquid stops pouring instantly.
easy peasy.

Like Bob said. Think about how you are letting air into the can to replace liquid. The ingoing air supply needs access above the outgoing liquid.

I used to be a paint chemist, so I spent half my life pouring from these tins. Trick is to pour with the spout at the top to allow air to enter the can as the liquid comes out (no glugging). If the can is absolutely full, then you need to hold the container you are pouring into against the spout, and tip quickly.

This video shows what I mean...

Not sure what you mean by 'flat'? .... horizontal? both these are full, I can't tip it more than 30 or so degrees before it starts spilling.

yep - these are pretty full. I tried tipping it quickly - still dribbled all down the can though :( ...
