What do you recommend for a new shed that's only been dip coated? I'd like to give it a good few coats of something before I erect it. I see fence and shed coatings but they all seem to be for rough sawn timber but I need something for planed shiplap.

Use an oil based product which will soak in.

If you use a water based product you will eventually regret it.

Mangers Creotec is good if you can't get proper creosote or don't want to use it.

Yup, proper coal tar creosote is the best, with a small amount of red diesel (or white) added to give it better penetrating qualities. It is actually still legally available, just not officially for amateur home use.
Depends where you live, you don't want neighbours reporting improper use of it either.

An alternative is the much more readily available in all DIY sheds product called 'creocote', but it isn't as good. Still better than most others though.
