Worn brushes - can't locate new ones

I've got a small motor that's stuttering, and while I'm definitely not an expert, it appears the brushes are worn and damaged.

Despite searching everywhere, I can't locate new ones.

They're really tiny, approx 4mm x 4mm.

What are my options? Can I file them down smooth or something?

So far as I'm aware, there is nothing special about bushes. I would get the closest one you can and reduce it to fit.

The spindle on my CNC machine has some pin thing down the center of the carbon - some saftey thing for when they ware or somthing? I've never really understood it. But I know for sure they work without it...

That Brush, despite being pitted does not appear to be over short.
Do they slide smoothly in the brush holder and is spring pressure constant to keep them in good contact?

What state is the commutator, signs of excessive burning on a couple of segments by any chance?
Comutator faults are a regular reason for brush contact surfaces suffering excessive degredation.
