Occasionally when a picture is posted I get a square with a cross in it and everyone is commenting and I have no idea what the hell they're talking about.
E.G. can't see Woodblokes( Robs) Avatar.

Help please

Dom

I can't see woodblokes avatar either.

If the source file is corrupt or no longer there, or if the address is wromg you will see the red cross. I find occasionally Internert Explorer just doesn't show the pictures, I get round this by right clicking on the picture and pressing 'Show Picture'.

I don't think that woodbloke has got an avatar at the moment.

If your browser is using a cached copy of the pages, it may have a picture placeholder where the avatar used to be, but because it's no longer in woodbloke's profile, it'll show the red cross.

Try refreshing/reloading the page (View menu, then Refresh, or press F5). If that clears the red cross that's that problem sorted out.

However, if woodbloke does have an avatar, I can't see it either! :)

Ray.

Very odd 'cos as far as I know the avatar is working, or appears to work on my system and I'm sure that the avatar is the correct size, more or less - Rob

Sorry Woodbloke

But I can't see it either just the red cross :?

If I take a look at the properties the dimensions states 28 x 30 pixels and no file size :?

Works fine for me,Rob (so did the photobucket link in slimjims post)

:-k

I can see the avatar fine but the link by slimjim gives Page Not Found. I tried Safari and Firefox on a Mac and both give the same results.

I have had similar problems when using a PC as you can get a conflict between settings on your firewall and/or browser such as FF which sometimes thinks that forum images are pop-ups or ads and so get blocked. So check your settings and temporarily change some to see if that works.

Clearing cache at times of difficulty is also always my first port of call.

IIRC it's always worked before for me, but not this time.

Cheers

Avatar was there last night, all gone this morning, will replace later on :) Red cross on my avatar now :( - Rob

Edit - avatar now of my son in one of his loonier moments (going to a fancy dress ball) as a gangsta with tommy gun

Sometimes I have to right click whilst the cursor is over the image, and click "view image". Then it displays it. No idea why it won't display to start with.

Cheers
