I have 3 , A Nilfisk small model that was a boot sale purchase, A elderly lady was lifting it out of the boot of her car . I asked how much ? the reply was is £5 ok ? I used it for my cleaning round that I had , Now retired , Needless to say I said yes please , Total age unknown , I must have had it at least 10 years and it still going strong.
Also have a Henry Numatic , The fine hepa filter bags ( Better filtering ) another used buy and nearly new £50
And one in my workshop another Nilfisk a big one this time purchased new maybe 12 years ago. never had any problems with any of them.

We have had two Dysons and both had the on/off switch go bad. It is not possible to get to it without cutting the thing apart. We trashed the first one, the second one I installed an external switch and now use it to clean the garage / workshop floor. I mounted the vacuum on a piece of plywood and use the accessory hose with a wide floor fitting. Still going strong after five years cleaning the garage floor! My wife bought a Shark, to heavy, but it works ok.
