Thanks Jim. Those are nearly right, but I've now found out the "official" name for them. They are Drain scoops, pull style. Found one or two sources on the web, but the price ranges from about £40 to over £75 (from a "by appointment to Her Majesty" garden tool supplier).
Looks like some more enquiries round the village in case any old boy has one lurking in a shed.
