As I said to a friend of mine who lives up in the North West. Fence panels can be considered to be "consumables"
Little damage here, but we've been lucky.
As you say, it used to just be "windy" not the hysterical "Danger! Danger! Condition Taupe!" warnings of today.

The hysterical part is due to the media posting news article after news article to make people click and make ad revenue.

The Met Office simply puts out warnings where there is the potential for loss of life and shows the potential path and estimated time of arrival and associated data.

If the poor chap in County Donegal had heeded that advice and stayed home during the storm, he wouldn't have died from a tree falling on his car and killing him.

I'd much rather be told there is a huge storm on the way and the potential path and power of it, than just guess and get caught out in it. Just go to the Met Office and don't read news articles on the storm and you can avoid the hysteria

I don't read the clickbait articles. However when I put the TV news on there they are all telling us how bad it is going to be.
And I do go to the Metrological site, and get the forecast. However, I need neither the naming of storms, nor the warnings. I can see how windy it's going to be thanks. The warnings may be useful actually, but not given repeatedly, unless it is going to be really serious.

There were the highest winds on record in Ireland. 200,000 homes lost power. 3 people in the UK and 1 person in ROI died on the roads during the storm. Numerous others injured by falling debris across the country. Numerous lorries got blown over on the roads. Numerous roofs have been ripped off buildings as well as other property damage. The O2 arena roof got shredded.

It might not have affected you, but to the people it did affect it was probably quite serious. https://news.sky.com/story/storm-eunice-in-pictures-snow-and-strong-winds-across-the-uk-12544948

I certainly wouldn't want to be under one of those trees, or passing the lorry as it tipped over, and I wouldn't want to be in the emergency services who have to go out and rescue people in those conditions.

Does anyone know if lightning can make an RCD trip , don't mean a strike just a thunderstorm had mine trip and no reason every MCB was in the on position just the RCD tripped and hasn't done it again since
It would be likely that the a dip in the supply, caused by lightning, caused a momentary variation between phase and neutral whch might cause the RCD to trip. Use the Test button on the trip to make sure it's working. The MCBs will only trip if the current exceeds the rating (x the Curve of the device).
From your comment, I would suggest that there's no problem but, as always, if you're still concerned, get a professional in.
