Little damage here, but we've been lucky.
As you say, it used to just be "windy" not the hysterical "Danger! Danger! Condition Taupe!" warnings of today.
The hysterical part is due to the media posting news article after news article to make people click and make ad revenue.
The Met Office simply puts out warnings where there is the potential for loss of life and shows the potential path and estimated time of arrival and associated data.
If the poor chap in County Donegal had heeded that advice and stayed home during the storm, he wouldn't have died from a tree falling on his car and killing him.
I'd much rather be told there is a huge storm on the way and the potential path and power of it, than just guess and get caught out in it. Just go to the Met Office and don't read news articles on the storm and you can avoid the hysteria
