Ukraine has been conscripting and press ganging troops. I am not sure how easy it will be to stop them returning to public life - and as I say the law under which they were conscripted specified war - so will it still even apply?

I would suggest that things would shift, but only slightly, and it would be obvious to the populace that a war footing would still be required to be retained for the foreseeable. Plus - there are very strong links now between Ukraine and many European nations that offer lots of "support in kind", such as training and other specialist capabilities. Those links, I'm certain, would persist for as long as *those nations* can see the requirement for it to be maintained.

PS - I have extended family links to Ukraine and relatives still in country...

I can only repeat the advice given to me by a very good friend.
Can you influence or control or change whatever it is that is getting you down?
If the answer is no, then there really is little point in letting it get to you, it's just not worth it.
Shrug your shoulders, stop worrying about it and get on with your life :)
You're absolutely right. But I spent my working life trying to help people think clearly, examine evidence, justify arguments, and chase the truth in so far as it can be found. Seems like a waste of effort when it turns out you can just make carp up, exploit people's weaknesses, lie to them and 'succeed'. But yes, back to the workshop it is... And thanks, Fergie.

The same court that he rigged in his favour during his last presidency. To quote Tony, 'You couldn't make it up!'
Indeed. What disturbs me is that some of his most extreme recent critics have been people who worked with/for him during his previous term. To take someone considered so dangerous and remove almost all limits and legal consequences from their behaviour is chilling.

Next time you watch Trump talking, notice how small his mouth is and how he purses his lips. Reminds me of a cat's sphincter.

That is your interpretation. She demonstrated to the American people just how bad she would be
in your opinion

Trump absolutely demonstrated just how bad he would be..........thats a fact not opinion:

"they are eating the dogs, they are eating the cats"
"windmills cause cancer"
"migrants are coming from “prisons” and “insane asylums"

those are not the words of a man suitable to be a president.

I'm just saying that we should hear the full context of that interview before making judgements. I think he was daft to choose Putin as someone to be admired and shows a certain lack of political nous. We seem to have this all the time these days, point scoring by taking statements out of context. Remember the bleach?
It got him lines in the press…

You've failed to grasp how the media works and how to appeal to people (aka voters) who already have an entrenched view.

Trump on the other hand, understands this perfectly. His main task was to get them out, and Harris with her luvvie supporters unwittingly helped him.

Have you listened to one of his speeches?

I mean come on, what sort of adult believes that dung.

When all is said and done the fact remains that when all the votes are in he will have probably about 53+ % of the votes cast.
That is a significant victory. So whatever their reasons, and however incomprehsible we may find it, a clear majority of the voters wanted him as their president.
That is their right. Declaring them all morons is not constructive, and I doubt very accurate either.
A majority clearly believe that his presidency will be a positive thing, either for them personally or for the nation as a whole. Whether they are right remains to be seen.
What effect his presidency will have on the rest of the world also remains to be seen, but there is little to be gained from endless debate about what he may or may not do and what the consequences might be.
We need to wait and see what he actually does do, and what the results are.
Whatever the outcome we have no control over it, so pointless getting too worked up about it.
