I have come to the conclusion that Tony is on a massive wind up. He's probably an erudite Guardian reader in reality :D .
Tony is actually one of those Large Language Model AI chat systems (like ChatGPT)... but it's been trained only from the contents of the Daily Mail Online.

It's a bit rich of the lefties on here vilifying Trump when just look who they chose to be their saviour and second coming! If I was a left wing voter I'd be utterly ashamed of who I voted into office. You really couldn't make it up and then they have the audacity to say Trump will be a disaster...like the profligate liar Starmer won't I suppose!

Anyone with the brain of a ferret which seems to exclude many people of a certain political leaning, could see the kind of leader he'd make when he was leader of the opposition and nothing has changed so stop insulting the American people and look at your own shortcomings first!
Sir Keir Starmer is a truly excellent leader
and I have no doubt he will work very well with the next president Kamala Harris

I shall now sit back and watch Tonys head boil

You lot do wind up so easily, don't you LOL.
That's what I like about left wingers, whatever you say which contradicts their cult's beliefs then you just know it's like disturbing a wasp's nest...they come out in swarms to sting at the first opportunity. You shouldn't bite as stress is not good for you ;)

Starmer is undoubtedly a profligate liar and hypocrite ...he isn't even frugal with his dishonesty and anyone who can't see that is blinded by tribalism.

He's out of his depth on this one and unfortunately people who are out of their depth and in charge like this shower are very often the most dangerous for a country as they are blinded by their own short sightedness and think only according to their own shortcomings.
Even though it's early days, Starmer has already proved he's the most unpopular PM in modern times and I can't see anything but ineptitude while he is in charge and this lot are in government.

They tendered for the contract of running the UK and won it by default but what they didn't say was that they didn't have the expertise to fulfil their tendering promises,

Really? Surely Liz Truss was more unpopular. Where are you getting your assertion from?

For the record I have no love of Starmer and I didn't vote for him. He will probably make some mistakes but most likely overall it won't be significantly better or worse than a Tory. Hopefully he will make some gains in the areas that I want improved - healthcare and Green energy.

Our Labour vs Conservative is not the same as Democrat vs Republican (MAGA), It's more like if we had Conservative vs Reform as our choice. I'm not even sure Reform is as insane as Trump.

Additionally people know what a Trump term of office is like from recent experience, Labour haven't been in power for 14 years and had different leaders etc. The only change Trump has made is to become more extreme since then and run on a platform of vengeance for perceived wrongs against him. If you listen to a speech from 2016 by Trump you'll also clearly see he has declined mentally. He is far less articulate (and he wasn't great then) and just rambles about nonsense these days.

Having voted conservative in every election apart from the last one (and I didn’t vote Labour or Reform!) it’s quite ironic but comforting to be branded as a lefty by @ey_tony .

If that’s the criteria for not wanting a narcissistic, misogynistic silly person running the US it looks like there’s a lot of us “lefties” about.

Edit - ps Tony - don’t forget what you said in your previous posts about you being open to other people’s opinions and not vilifying them if you don’t agree😉

Pleased to say my wife reports that local womens' group (a.k.a. "Knit and Natter") are utterly horrified by Trump. They tend to be very tory and much in favour of rubbish like Boris Johnson, Brexit etc. so it could be significant!

Anybody who has watched one of his speeches can see he is totally unsuited to a position of high power.

The cognitive decline, the moral depravity, the narcissism

It doesn’t take much reasoning to see it
Robin, can you tell me some of Trump's policies that make him so terrible? Or is it just a vehement dislike of the man?

I'm no huge fan of Trump, doesn't seem like the nicest guy but the direction Kamala leans and some of the things she's said in the past about polices and what she would enforce as president scares me a lot.

If Kamala Harris is declared the winner of the presidential election, 48% of Trump supporters say they will not accept her as the legitimate president

The juxtaposition there is delicious, and depressing:

My point in my last comment stands, is your opinion based on just a dislike of a person or the actual policies that have been put forward by both teams?

I dislike both candidates to be honest but as far as policy goes, I can only see one that will actually benefit America.

If it's policy you are talking about and not character then fair enough, that's your opinion. I won't ridicule it I'll just disagree and move on. Seems like we all forgot that's a possibility.

Robin, can you tell me some of Trump's policies that make him so terrible
1) Roe Wade reversal
2) his refusal to accept results of 2020

Those are enough to make him unsuited to high office.

I could go on to talk about his intention to replace federal workers with sycophants or his constant ramping up of division and hatred.

Or his connections to Putin

Or his connections to far right extremist groups like the Proud boys

Or his spreading lies about Haitians eating dogs

Or his narcissistic personality

Or his lack of ability to make a coherent speech.

I've put lists of things that Trump has said he will do (from his own mouth).

Please can you state the things that Kamala has said/policies that scare you so much. I have yet to see even the most basic of lists or even one policy that is so scary from the democrats.

So you are saying we should ignore Trumps refusal to accept the 2020 democratic result?

And we should ignore Trumps numerous criminal proceedings for sexual violence, corruption etc

Thats fair comment TBH, he is proving to be somewhat disingenuous, but that said, he is a politician, and again to be completely honest, are there any who aren't.

The problem for politicians is that if they were brutally honest and told it like it is, no one would vote for them so they each preach the kind of politics they think will appeal to the most voters.
All politicians will hound and denigrate their opposition that is their job but where Starmer has been found wanting is that he and his mates criticised the Tories for the very things that he himself and his cronies have been seen to be guilty of.
Just look at the fuss he made over the prospect of the winter fuel allowance being withdrawn...he called them virtual monsters and then what does he do?
He has absolutely no integrity whatsoever.

I'm not left wing as you'll have gathered but I found Jeremy Corbyn much more genuine, agreeable and true to his beliefs even if I didn't agree with him and his policies.
He was arguably far more trustworthy and I'd add that Starmer is far worse than such as Corbyn as you knew where you were with him...with Starmer I wouldn't trust him as far as I could have thrown Eric Pickles.

Starmer only won by default due to the orchestrated political agitation and hounding of the Tories by the media who wanted a government change and now they've got it and look at the results!
Logic should have told Starmer et al that if the incumbent government couldn't fix the problems which would have ensured another term in office then the problems ran far deeper and more problematical than they assumed.

All this nonsense about the black hole soundbite they keep repeating is exactly that. Everyone else seemed to know that there were budgeting deficits so if they couldn't figure that one out before assuming power then it doesn't bode well for the future with them in charge. They've used the notion of the black hole soundbite to justify their incompetence in assessing the situation. everyone can see through that ploy.

I dread to think what this lot would have been like during dealing with the aftermath of the 2008 recession, dealing with the Covid recession and then the recession brought on by the war in Ukraine.

Robin, can you tell me some of Trump's policies that make him so terrible?
Does he actually have any policies? He moans about immigrants, pretends to care about people's standard of living, doesn't want abortion after birth etc., but does he actually have any policies? Or just concepts of plans, coupled with vengance on his political opponents?
