I take no pay for articles and buy all of the stuff used in them, and I don't re-do tests in them to cater to any one tool vs. another.
This method will probably improve your chisel sharpening and time between sharpening, and same with bevel up planes. Bevel down may be a little bit more difficult to master, but it's an add on for this. I have no issue with it and have heard from a few people who have learned to finally get planes sharp with the method, but others have had clearance problems or other problems with plane blades.
