I am wondering if anyone has had problems assembling the Triton 2000 workcentre at all. I got it out this weekend to put together and have a play ( I bought it in January !! ) and found that one of the end panels was misaligned when welded together and the leg bolt wouldn't go through straight and align with the other hole. So I filed about 1mm out of the fouling side of the hole and I thought all was well. When I came to try to install the aluminium bearing channels I can only get a bolt through at one end: the other is only showing about 1.5mm of bolt hole. Or to put it another way, with one securing bolt through the bearing channels at one end I get about an 8mm gap between the end of the channel and the other end panel. And I cannot raise it into securing position because the locking levers have small protrusions underneath that prevent this happening. It is the same on both sides. I've taken it apart and reasembled it to the same point and it's still the same.
Has anybody else encountered this? Or do you think I should I be contacting Triton and requesting a new end panel? I know there is a person in these forums that demonstrates Triton equipment so maybe he could advise me as to the correct course of action.

Thanks

I've not heard of this situation before, although assembly can cause a few alignment problems in itself. :)

When fitting the base channel bolts (step 2 on page 3), did you fully tighten them? If so, relax all four, then try inserting the bearing channels as advised, with the cut-outs facing upwards - they should click into position when pushed up from below. At that point, if successful, tighten the bolts.

If this procedure fails, then the only viable solution, without seeing the part (is a picture possible?) would appear to be a replacement end panel. You don't say which end is "misaligned" so here are both part numbers:

WCA274 End Panel Assembly - front (with switchbox)
WCA279 End Panel Assembly - rear

When I put my WC2000 together, I found, as Argee suggests, that you need to assemble things with the bolts fairly loose so as to give yourself some "wiggle room" to all the bolts in. From my own experience and from reading the Aussie Woodforums Triton owners and users section, most set-up problems come from not following the very detailed instructions in the Triton manuals to the letter. If you haven't already visited that site it is well worth a look, as most things Triton have been discussed at length over the years.

Thanks for that information.
I'm pretty sure I had the nuts slack but i'll give it another go tonight and see what happens. If that doesn't sort it it will have to be a new end panel.

Well I slackened off the bolts as suggested and I still couldn't get it to align properly. All I can think of is that the misalignment in the welding jig has caused the top part to be further out that it should be - it's the rear end panel assembly.
Oh well, looks like a new part.
Thanks for the part codes Argee.

The directions for assembling the main frame are not in the hard-copy manual. These are found on a DVD and it is a right game running in and out of the workshop to check up on what I was doing wrong.
I gave up for now, and still can't assemble the Darned thing. The channel just will NOT locate in the end panel and there is a good 1" gap at the end between the runner and the panel. Shocking fit!
