Why do I have trouble in buying this magazine in UK?
Taunton Press tell me to locate GMC Publications but GMC tell me to locate Taunton Press. This happens every year. A posted copy from US is about £10 and naturally from a UK agent it's much cheaper. Do list members have the same difficulty?

It's a few years since I bought a copy of Fine Woodworking, but when I did I got mine from W H Smiths. They had the Tools and Shops special edition.

(Have to admit I only bought a couple of issues of 'Tools and Shops'. The 'Shops' all seemed to be about the size of a medium industrial unit - one was bigger than my house - and seemed to be equipped with every machine under the sun. It wasn't real life woodworking for me, it was just woodworking ****ography, so far into the realms of fantasy that I felt it had absoutely no relevance to what I needed, wanted, could afford or achieve.

The main magazine, on the other hand, often had useful and interesting stuff in it. However, after a few years, there does come a point when you feel you've read it before, somewhere.....and as FWW is not a cheap read in the UK, I stopped buying it.)

if u have a smart phone. you can download an app fine woodworking magazine then pay a yearly subscription get them as e magazines don't have them gathering dust when u have finished reading them and can save pages and articles u found useful for future reference rather than i read that some where... which addition awh well i'll never find that .....

Hi Richard,
Must have the glossy effect for a true Christmas day read of "Tools & Shops." Fantasy reading - those extra ordinary American workshops.

Isn't Kilkeny famous for black marble?

its more the green marble I believe! could be wrong :/

its only 34.99 dollars for the 12 months subscription plus the 2 yearly specials when they are over 7 pounds in the shop its great value. the glossy effect can be achieved by ruining ur phone with a piece of plastic laminate stuck over the screen
