The London international woodworking festival 1st and 2nd of November 2024.
I’m starting to get ready for this event as I will be demonstrating and lecturing on both days, so if you want to know how a bench knife is used, how to tune and sharpen a moulding plane, or anything to do with pre industrial woodworking techniques, why not join me there in person. You can find out all the details, and about all the other great woodworkers and organisations that will be attending by following this link. If your into hand tools, or unplugged woodworking, this is the place to be!

Now that looks like something I would love to see/attend ( unfortunately I’m 3000 miles away) quite an august bunch, I am absolutely sure woodworking by hand is becoming much more popular.

This time next week it'll be all over... are you going to regret missing it?

Apart from machinery there should be something to please everyone.
It's looking likely I'll be having a table with the William Kendall mother planes on show alongside Bill and Sarah Carter planes.
A very special unfinished plough plane from the Olivier Sparkes workshop was gifted to raise charitable funds and has now been finished by Mr Tim Smith to a comparable standard of high quality, this should be available for your perusal as well.
Apparently it ain't that far from the Sarf of the country..... lol
With a train stop thingy right outside the venue.
Cheers, Andy

Just a heads up to say that the main event is Saturday and a few of the exhibitors might not be there on the Friday including me and planemaker Bill Carter.
Interested in wooden planemaking?
All being well my display will have the William Kendall planemaking planes to gawk at.
Look forward to seeing you.
Cheers, Andy

The show was good but smaller than I was expecting. Good to have a chat with Phil of Philly Planes. I bought a mitre plane from him recently and it was good to update him on how I was getting on with it (very well).

I had a short chat with David Barron. I like his alternative to a moxon vice. I might have a look at making one myself.

I also managed to have a good look at a HNT Gordon tail vice. Definitely on my wish list.

Classic Hand tools had the largest stand. It was good to be able to peruse their tools and particularly their books. Got away with only buying a Auriou rasp and Hock Chip breaker. So relatively lightly.

Suffolk Wood Veneers had an interesting selection of vaneers for sale. I bought a £10 bag of offcuts as veneering is something I want to try my hand at.

There were a couple of interesting chair making schools showing samples of there work. One selling very nice tools (I managed to resist). Also a ship building school. Maybe something to think about when I finally retire.

So all in all worth the trip.

I should add that Sean Hellman's stall was interesting. Some nice green woodworking tools. His Carver's stock knife looking particularly interesting.

The chair-maker selling some very nice tools was The Windsor Workshop. The travishers and scrapers looking very nice.

I liked the look of The Quiet Workshop chairs. If I lively closer to Cambridge I'd be tempted to try one of their course just to learn how to weave the seats so neatly.
