No, not some Dickensian novel.
The other evening I asked Chronos Tools if they held a particular spare part. I used their website auto-enquire form.
The next morning, I got their response, "No. Sorry".
Fair enough. At least they responded.
They apparently use a system called "tawk-to" to gather their enquiries, and to reply accordingly. Replies come in the form of a quarter-screen, top-left hand window on your computer's desktop....

Flitted on to something else online a few hours later, only to see "No. Sorry" from Chronos again.
I know. I saw it earlier.
Transpires every time I access the internet do I see "No. Sorry" every bloody time!

How to get rid of "Tawk-to"?
Looked it up, and found that you have to enter your Tawk-to account (which I haven't got) and do this, that and the other within settings.
OK, so has it installed something in my browser? (Brave, in this case)

Nothing obvious. Checked Settings, Privacy and Extensions and couldn't find anything.
So how?

I will post this thread in a few seconds, before Chronos tells me that they haven't the spare I'm after, and that they're sorry.

It's bloody infuriating....

I clicked a link someone posted on the virgin media forum the other day. Realised it was dumb and shut the whole group of tabs down without going and actually looking to see what was there.
I had a strange popup today that may have been unrelated but it sent me checking chrome to see if something had installed itself. Not that I can see, but google I see are saving a ton of info about my browsing that I never actively opted into.
Cue the regular round of opt out / opt out / delete all saved data.
Any excuse and google will turn the settings back on and start saving it again so I'll be doing it all again in another year.

Is Google on folks computers etc still calling back to the mothership without your say-so ?
