Coming from the pre-Microsoft Word era. I'd have spelt it with a 'z'.

Judging by the letters accompanying job applications that I receive, the overall standard of grammar and literacy is woeful. It isn't restricted to members of the public nor is it a recent phenomenon.
Anyone that has been to St Mary's on the Isles of Scilly may have seen the plaque on a bus shelter which reads:-

"This shelter was erected in 1954 to commemorate the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by the council of the Isles of Scilly with the assistance of the McDonald trust"

Call me a pedant but I thought it was the Archbishop of Canterbury
