Text pattern maker

I enjoy cutting out family names and two word phrases such as “The Boss” & “Chill out.” However I am having a problem finding a way to print out the patterns. Steve Good has a good small programme called “Scrollsaw pattern maker” which is a little limited as to the font etc. He uses CorelDraw as his main pattern maker, which although good, is very expensive.
I was wandering what others use for such patterns.

Have you tried Serif software? I think you can download a free version online and might be worth checking out.

I use a serif programme called craft artist 2. We had it for paper crafting and it is really good for font editing.
