We have always had separate laptops as we use them for different things makes life easier. I now have to figure out I get my wireless Garmin forerunner up and running on the iPad when it arrives (it uses a ANT in my usb port to download my stats into the laptop).

I've had a Blackberry 7" 64gb for some while but have vaguely been thinking of getting something bigger and quicker. Had a try of my son's iPad, it's nice and and it is bigger but no quicker, so I'll have to do a bit more research. Trouble is there are so many on the market and I guess after Christmas the prices will tumble (except Apple of course :) ).

I'm curious to know what aspect is 'slow'. Downloading? Scrolling?
I didn't say it was "slow" it was just no quicker around the web or running apps than my older Blackberry - but then it's not the latest iPad either.

That was my line of reasoning. Could be the actual server you are trying to connect to, your ISP, contention at your local exchange....not necessarily the device.

It's fibre-optic at 65mbs (just tested) and the desktop PC I'm using at the moment is blindingly fast.

I was just mildly surprised that the iPad didn't eclipse my old Blackberry. I'll have a look around and see what's available with a nice big screen. :)

What vintage iPad was it? If it was similar to your Blackberry (Playbook, presumably) then you would't really expect it to be any snappier in use, would you? Take a look at the current iPads - they're really quite a different animal now with a *much* beefier processor.

Cheers, Pete

I've no idea of its age, I'll need to ask, but anyway I'm sure you're right. :)
