Your guardian angel worked overtime that day. In the early 70's friends hit a wall at speed, the one that went through the screen was lucky, the other one died.Of course, with laminated glass nowadays, nobody goes through the screen anymore.
Theres never a right and wrong on this subject, but wearing the belt is more right than wrong.

When I was 18 I was coming home late one night on the bus with my girlfriend. Sat in them front row. Two lads in a car came up a hill near Leek Wooten in a car and we watched powerless as they drove head on into the bus at speed. Both lads went through the screen, splatted against the bus, and were then thrown back into the car. I tried to save one who was choking on his own blood. They both died. Bus driver (not wearing a belt) broke his neck. I've been a bit of a fan of seatbelts since then.
