Picked all these up around Christmas time when we had some really strong winds, all were green turned down to about 20mm and left for 10-12 weeks. Finished with sanding sealer and Chestnut clear wax.
I have no idea what tree the last two pics came from but the slice I begged was over 30 inches across and ten inches deep

Dean :)

Dean,

Nice looking work. :D

The last one could be sycamore, but don't take my word for it, I am not an expert on wood recognition. :-s

Caught some good colouring there Dean, all the forms look as though they make the most of the wood specimen.

Do you get that extra buzz from producing something from 'salvage' wood that I do? I find myself shunning the 'bought in' stock now unless a specific request arrives.

Like the bowls Dean. My favourite the 'spalted one' love the colours.

Let's hope for some more winds.

Thanks for all replies :)
But I am going to disagree on the last two pics, I don't think it's sycamore
But if I was asked what wood it was, I would also be thinking sycamore.

The girth of the tree is to big and the bark is not like any sycamore I,ve seen

Here is a picture of two pieces I have left, the green turned bowl and the blank are both sycamore :?

:? :? :?

CHJ, I do feel a lot more satisfaction when I've produced something pleasing from what some people would consider a lump of scrap wood :D
( Plus I'm to tight to pay the prices some suppliers charge  ) :D
