Well in that case I won't bring tinned ale as planned, as the two don't get along.
Can I offer a donation towards your friend's travel expenses?

Don't have anything weird and wonderful on the plane front (maybe Stanley #43 plough? Beat up but my fave anyway.)

But have a selection of different hand stitched rasps (Aurio, Joel's Gramercy SS, WorkshopHeaven Chinese, Stewmac Dragon) if it would be worth bringing a selection for folks to compare and contrast.

Cheers
Steve

As there has been a thread on Old versus New planes I thought I'd bring along a Norris so a comparison can be done by someone who knows what thier talking about, so that won't be me, any voluteers?

Heard it all before

Hi all,
Missed this thread as I was away.

OK here's the latest. First I'm delighted that some many are excited about the idea. I am, too.

I have a doc with info (it's a bit long to post here), so if you are planning to come please email nottinghambashATworkshopessentialsDOTcom and put "Bash" in the Subject. That way I can filter out the Bash stuff from my ordinary email and send everyone an info document easily.

[Edit - email problem now fixed]

Here's a snip:
Philly is bringing some of his planes, Graham is bringing his little lathe, Waka is bring his Kapex and I hope to do a filming demonstration. There will be a Veritas display. Tony will be Houndstoothing. We’ll have a bit of live music, all being well, from a scratch band I’ve nicknamed Scary Sharp. I’ll leave it to you to decide who’s who. I’ll have my video stuff available (I hope) unless my schedule really slips. My workshop will be open, but I warn you it’s bijoux.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.
Cheers
Steve

Bump!

If you are planning to come and haven't yet asked for an info doc can you please email me, it will help me to assess numbers, too.

Please put BASH in the subject, so it gets filtered properly.

Thanks
Steve

I'm keeping an eye on the long-range weather forecast:
http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/14days.asp
I think the link above will be valid only for today. I hope it is accurate, because although the temps aren't great, at least it says No Rain. But a lot can change in a week.

Anyway, I've booked a Hall as a backup. It's only 2 minutes drive from my house. I'll email everyone who has already emeailed me the directions if it looks like we are going to have to use it.

If you haven't emailed me yet:

Please put BASH in the subject.

Can anyone help me out with some kit, please?

Does someone have a good sturdy Workmate with rubber feet? Mine has only the steel legs, the feet went years ago. Philly needs a bench of some description, and whilst a Workmate is not a bench, it's probably better than a table. If we end up in the Hall, it has a sprung maple dance floor, so we will not be popular if we wreck it.

The other thing I would like to borrow is a projector and screen. I mean the sort of projector that you can plug into a laptop, not a slide projector.

So if anyone has either of these that they can bring, can you please let me know?

Ta muchly.
Steve

I can bring the workmate and projector, but I don't have a portable screen.

Cheers,
Neil

I would still like to come but i fear i may have done something wrong  as i have not had an email. I will try again tommorow from my work email address.#

By the way, some folks may not have realized that you need to replace AT with @ and DOT with . :)
It's an attempt to fool 'bots into not sending me spam.

Owen, I've not received an email from you. I've replied to all I've received. Glad to know you are planning to come though, the more the merrier!

BTW, what a pity we've not had it today, it's been glorious here.

Next thing.

Someone has asked about a swapsies stall. I'm OK with that, so if anyone has anything they'd like to sell or swap, bring it along and I'll set aside a table for such items.

No commission! :)
