Well, yes, a young man's thoughts do, but as you get older sometimes a good meal can be quite satisfying, as many of you know my workshop is on a farm, a working farm, so lunch is never far away..........

Paul, You're just being obtuse now.
To the left of those lunchboxes is a wall, behind the wall is my workshop, in the workshop there are bandsaws a tablesaw................get the picture  :)

OK, I'll take 6 (that's 12 with the special offer). I'll be round in the morning

Cheers

Paul (who is only joking - just in case you are serious  )

If they didn't want us to eat animals, why do they make them out of meat

Teeth are, after all, designed for tearing flesh. :)

I'm sorry to be controversial - it's not normally my thing, BUT...

I was brought up on a livestock farm, so am by no means squeamish about these matters (neither am I a tree hugging, cotton and plastic wearing vegetarian before you all leap in), but anyone looking at a picture of week old calves and thinking "Yum Yum" has got something seriously wrong with them.

As for the subsequent sick postings - you should all be ashamed of yourselves. Those are living, breathing sentient animals that you are fantasising about chopping up! I realise that is is done in jest, but I'm sorry, I just don't find it in the least amusing.

As for veal productions - don't even get me started. If you had ever had the misfortune to see (as I once did) veal calves kept in the dark and fed solely on milk, so that they get rickets and can hardly stand up without suffering agony, just so that the meat remains pale, then anyone with an ounce of compassion would decide (as I did) that veal was off the menu.

Before you all leap in and accuse me of hypocrisy, yes I do eat meat, but I strive to ensure that it has been raised and slaughtered in as humane a way as possible.

I would appeal to the mods to please lock this thread ASAP, and preferably delete it altogether, as I cannot believe that I am the only person here to find it offensive in the extreme.

Once again, I apologise for any problems I have caused to the mods by this posting , but animal welfare is a subject that I feel strongly about, and do not feel it a suitable subject for humour.

That bandsaw I posted is a specialised meat bandsaw sold to the butchery trade.

Butchery is not unkind to an animals welfare, nor is talking about eating an animal.

Are you saying we should be ashamed of eating meat? Should a farmer be ashamed of slaughtering the animals he bred for food?

I think your taking this a bit too far and have not thought it through.

PS the veal production that you speak of is now illegal in this country and Europe.

Could you please explain what is 'seriously wrong' with seeing cattle bred as food...as food?

Again, can you explain exactly what is shameful about Butchery? I really don't see it??

As I said, this production method has been banned for about 10yrs. I personally feel we should be supporting veal that has been produced in this country. Only then will you teach the rest of the world how to treat animals.

EDIT: Actually, the fines for mistreating livestock is about on par with causing a road traffic accident whilst drunk and speeding. Prety hefty.

Actually, no one was talking about slaughter or even poor slaughter practise. It seems you are taking this too seriously, even though you stated a disclaimer.

If the mods feel what I have said offensive or that there really is 'somehting seriously wrong' with me, then I am happy for them to be deleted, locked whatever. I also stand by my comments and my food ethos.

Please let me assure you that there is nothing seriously wrong with me

Tricky one for people living in cities, as most of the "organic farm produce " is a fraud

I think that if threads are locked every time a few members are offended would be a serious mistake, I can only assume you don't read the jokes section, because that would have been shut down long ago
